Our volunteer garden group have planted up our 8 new veg boxes with winter vegetables including: scallions, perpetual spinach, two types of kale, winter salad, and winter calabrese/ broccoli. The organic plants were supplied by a local market garden whereas next year we hope to grow our own from seed. We are likely to sell our veg to fundraise for the group, however, this is still to be decided. Our group had the help of an experienced veg grower who suggested the layout of our beds.

The danger of theft is going to be a problem isn't it? Such a pity!
ReplyDeleteYou are really making use of your space! I am relatively new to vegetable gardening, and haven't explored options for winter veg yet... next year!
ReplyDeleteThe garden is coming along nicely. I suppose vandels could keep it picked clean. The project is a great thing to do for the community. Perhaps the garden needs a guard dog.
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me to redesign my bed. The beds look so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the answer to the theft problem is to erect a sign saying "Please note that this area is under 24-hour CCTV surveillance. Thieves will be prosecuted." (Even if it is not true!).
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the term "veg box" which you use. To me those are "raised beds", whereas to me a "veg box" is a weekly delivery of vegetables from a supplier like Abel and Cole"! The joys of language diversity, eh??
