Construction Underway

Excuse my blog - it's slightly under construction!

I clicked on a button (by accident) that changed my blog completely, and now I suppose I'm running on the new version of Blogger (not too happy about this). Not that I'm opposed to change... but... first there were the issues with Blogger and Google Chrome... then more recently there were issues around posting comments and word verification, and now....

When I updated to the new Blogger, it took away my previous template so I had to basically re-design my blog, and it corrupted my last post (I think its gone forever). My Pet Peeve - the background colours they offer now are quite limited. Blogger, blogger - why keep messing with us when it was working fine before! Is anyone else having problems with Blogger?

6 March update - I've been able to get back the white background. Still some faults with Blogger design and formatting features!
7 March update - still having various technical problems with Blogger, including problems posting photos and text. I've gone to the Blogger Help Forum so fingers crossed! From my experience I would advise not to click on any of the new blogger interface buttons.

  1. Oh Kelli what a shame....What a lot of work, effort, anx and general annoyance.
I'm of the same opinion, why make changes for changes sake. I've personally only had the comments problem which I was completely oblivious to, until someone wrote on their blog that they couldn't leave me a message. It makes you wonder what else is going wrong behind the scenes. I sometimes have difficulty with attaching photos too. They either don't attach properly or aren't there at all! I have to log out and then back in again, which thankfully seems to do the trick...why I'm not sure?

I know I'm very attached to my blog and I have to admit I would feel devastated if something where to happen to it...which is a little sad but true.
I hope you're able to get sorted and that you the find last post. Good Luck :)

  2. Kelli, I totally agree. If it ain't broke, then don't fix it! Just when you think you have come to terms with Blogger's latest quirk, they change it. At present, there is still a facility to revert to "Old Blogger" though, isn't there? I'm still experiencing a very mixed situation concerning leaving comments. Some of them go through OK, some just disappear for ever, and lots of variations on that theme.

  3. Hi Kelli, I am having problems with Blogger on an ongoing basis!Everything is Ok for a while then it decides it doesnt like me or my blog yet again, you are probaly like me in that I sit down to update the blog with a limited amount of time at my disposal and then it takes forever to work around what ever change they have made, leaving comments is my biggest problem at times.

  4. I changed to the new Blogger but changed back again because I was having so many problems - tonight when I switched on all my blog roll had disappeared. I tried to comment on your last post but it kept disappearing. I agree with you - what's going on?

  5. I think basically that I don't really like change. I try not to change things if I like them the way they are. I loved your blog before. I don't like the colors now, especially where the comments are, which I find harder to read. In fact, I don't like any dark colors on the blog. So that is my view and I hope you can get it back or at least lighter, more cheerful to match all your beautiful and cheerful flowers you photogragh. I am afraid to try to update anything on my blog, for fear it will be ruined, so I guess I will just stay the same!

  6. Drat that Blogger! I think I switched a while back, yes, and it was muddled for quite some time. But, now that I've played with it a bit and made some changes after fumbling around, I'm happy with it. But like Egretta, I basically don't like change either. Cheers, Jenni

  7. I tried the new blogger but didn't like it as much so as Mark says there is (or was) a revert option. I would have changed to Wordpress but haven't had the time to sort it out. Most people that change seem to prefer it.

  8. Useful comments. I did try to revert back to old blogger. I was successful with the old dashboard but wan't able to revert back to the old template/set up I had. I even googled the how to instructions, but Blogger apparently has changed the 'how to revert back' instructions several different times. Long story short, I wasn't able to revert back fully.

Neesie, I had trouble posting comments last year and had to start using Google Chrome; I think others had to switch to Google Chrome too for the same reasons. I'm not a fan of Google Chrome and I only use it for blogging. I really like Internet Explorer (with plain old Google).

Egretta, I agree. I really don't like the dark colours. I tried to get light colours for hours with no success. But I will keep trying.

  9. I also wish they'd stop messing about with it. I've looked at the dynamic views etc too - they just don't seen bloggy - if you know what I mean! My template is my own design so I wonder what if anything would happen to that - I tried the new dashboard and just found it confusing trying to find everything. It isn't lack of ICT confidence as I have an ICT background it's just bad design! Once you get you blog sorted save the template - if you are still able to with the new Blogger so at least any changes can be put back in place. Have you tried going back to the old Blogger interface?

  10. I'm not comupter savvy at all so I tend to keep everything the same if I can so I know where I am with everything. I had problems with commenting at one time and had to use Google Chrome, but that seems to have sorted itself out for the time being.

  11. Hi Kelli, well I see you have got the dark background colors off. I can read everything much better now and I think the photo looks prettier on the white background. Some of my artist blogging friends have black background and it really takes away from their art, I think. Hope things sort out to your satisfaction.

  12. How very frustrating, it is the photos that drive me up the wall in blogger, how they jump about and refuse to line up. I have found Firefox to be a good alternative to Explorer with the comments problems.
Hope you manage to tame it to your satisfaction - your background photograph looks fantastic, always brings back great travelling memories each time I read your blog. Cat

  13. Your blog looks very pretty. I like the background. Recently I clicked something on blogger and had no idea what I had done, but things changed.

  14. A bit of good advice. I am inclined to poke around and make changes, so far I have been able to find my way back. I love your background, the Cliffs of Mohr. I have that same photo in my own photo album when I toured Ireland. I just like looking at your background. Change is good, but so is consistency. And yes, it is very brown around here; its the pre spring color of the landscape, but soon with some moisture the landscape will be gloriously green--until the mid-summer heat gets gets its hold.
