We're getting snow this weekend... Spring is on hold and so is the outdoor gardening!
It's cold and the ground is slushy. I've even decided to hold off sowing seeds until April.

This year my daffodils are late flowering; last year the daffodils were flowering in mid March. Photo above taken 15 March 2012. |

Hi Kelli, I just stumbled over your blog! Always nice to find a gardener, who also tries to garden organically. For my taste there are still to few out there! Happy Spring!

I can see daffodil buds just jutting out of the snow in my raised beds.
ReplyDeleteOver here I have lots of daffs in flower now, which is strange considering how NI is supposed to be much milder than mainland UK. Right now I'm wishing I had enough cloches to cover ALL my raised beds. The soil is too wet and cold to consider sowing any seeds, and we have day after day of icy winds. Summer seems such a distant dream!
ReplyDeleteWell well, glad to see that others are missing out and Spring too. Here on the shores of Lake Michigan in USA - still snow on the ground like in your photo posted today. I think we are all more than ready to get out into the dirt and start planting! Enjoyed my visit. Jack
ReplyDeleteSorry about the slushy stuff! In U.S., there is a snow storm across many states. Here in Florida, it is 90 today, very hot and the wind is blowing from the South. All strange weather for last of March! I'm sure Easter will be cold in many places.
ReplyDeleteYes the weather delays gardening and sowing this year. It is freezing cold here with even ice crystals along the water on the reed, brrrr. I only have daffodil Tête-à-tête with flowers, we have a long wait until spring weather arrives.
ReplyDeleteAnd we chose this week to go on holiday,. Last year at this time we were in Scotland walking along the canal side wearing just jumpers. This year in the south Midlands we were wearing two fleeces and a padded coat and still cold. The dog refused to go on walks too!
ReplyDeleteSeems the chilly spring is a world wide issue! It's April 2 here, and still very cold. The birdbath was frozen solid this morning! But the weather for this upcoming weekend is promising. Yes!
